We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the second annual Byrne Kean Dinner on October 6, 2022. Chaired by Governor Tom Kean and Ruthi Byrne, this year’s gathering featured the esteemed Journalism Impact Awards, honoring several local journalists for their exceptional contributions to our state’s journalism.

• Legendary sports journalist Jerry Izenberg received the Lifetime Achievement Award in New Jersey journalism for his 70+ year career of journalistic excellence.
• The Statewide Journalism Impact Award was presented to Kelly Heyboer of NJ Advance Media for her reporting on “quiet rooms” in NJ schools. 
• The Local Journalism Impact Award was presented to Jordan Gass-Pooré and her team for her PBS/NJ Spotlight News project Hazard NJ, a series about Superfund sites in NJ as told by communities that live in or around them.
• Former State Senator Loretta Weinberg accepted the inaugural Loretta Weinberg Award, which honors non-journalists who have made a significant impact on NJ journalism.
