Byrne Kean Dinner 2024
Thank you to everyone who supported the fourth annual Byrne Kean Dinner on October 15, 2024, at the Park Avenue Club. Named in honor of former New Jersey governors Brendan Byrne and Tom Kean, who embodied New Jersey’s tradition of principled leadership and bipartisanship, the dinner is a longstanding tradition that brings together politicians, government leaders, and journalists. This year’s event, chaired by Governor Tom Kean and Ruthi Byrne, also featured the prestigious Journalism Impact Awards, recognizing several local journalists and organizations for their outstanding contributions to our state’s journalism.
- Robin Wilson-Glover, the recently-retired, longtime editor for NJ.com and Mosaic, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in New Jersey Journalism.
- Colleen O’Dea, senior writer and project editor at NJ Spotlight News, and Colleen Wilson, transportation reporter for NorthJersey.com/The Record, each received the Statewide Impact in New Jersey Journalism award.
- Kevin Coughlin, founding editor and driving force behind MorristownGreen.com and former reporter at The Star-Ledger, received the Local Impact in New Jersey Journalism award.
- The inaugural Student Impact in NJ Journalism award was presented to Zoe Van Gelder and Ishani Bakshi, two students who co-authored a groundbreaking article about the new push for voting rights among teens for Public Square Amplified.
- The trailblazing philanthropists at The Lenfest Institute for Journalism received the Loretta Weinberg Award, which honors non-journalists who have made a significant impact on New Jersey journalism.
Stay tuned for next year!
