2026 Byrne Kean NJ Journalism Awards

The Sixth Annual Byrne Kean NJ Journalism Awards

Celebrating the stories, and the storytellers, that keep New Jersey informed.

Local journalism is the backbone of civic life — and once a year, we gather to celebrate the people who make it possible. The Byrne Kean NJ Journalism Awards honors the reporters, editors, and newsrooms doing the work that strengthens New Jersey’s communities and its democracy.

From statewide investigations to hyperlocal reporting, from rising student journalists to the unsung heroes working behind the scenes, this evening recognizes the full spectrum of talent and dedication driving local news forward.

Join us this year at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ — a beautiful setting for a night that means so much to our community. The evening opens with a cocktail hour bringing together journalists, civic leaders, and supporters of local news, followed by the awards ceremony in the museum’s auditorium.

Why it matters: Every ticket and sponsorship supports the Corporation for New Jersey Local Media (CNJLM), a nonprofit that owns and operates local news outlets serving 52 communities across New Jersey.
